Eat To Live or Live To Eat?
Which Are You? This is a way of thinking, a mindset. From that mindset comes habits. How you eat will dictate how you look, and feel. Your results in the gym will depend on the fuel you put in your body day in and day out. Let’s take the first; “Eat To Live” – When we have this mindset, we consider our goals first. How we want to look and perform is our priority. We make choices that are going to get us closer to these goals. Choices become simple, and consistency is the name of the game. We don’t look at food and drink for comfort or eat from an emotional state to make ourselves feel better. We don’t feel guilty when we eat certain foods, we have no emotional attachment to food, therefore it does not control us. Now, lets take a look at the second; “Live To Eat” – With this mindset, we are a slave to our emotions and therefore a slave to food. We don’t think about our goals, we are emotionally attached to food. We make poor decisions and we feel guilty when we eat certain things. We are very inconsistent, and generally don’t feel well. Our sleep is interrupted and inconsistent, we perform below our abilities, and our results are inconsistent. And we end up quitting most of the things we start.
Most of us have been brought up with an emotional connection to food. How?… many of us were rewarded with food when we did something right or finished a project or got good grades. Maybe we celebrate after a promotion, or a raise. Maybe we’ve worked really hard to get where we are and we feel like we deserve to treat ourselves, whether it be through food or drink. The food and beverage companies have taken advantage of this and market to our emotions. Along with this is the availability of food and drink. We don’t have to go very far to get just about anything we want, from Sushi at the grocery store to the hundreds of chain restaurants, fast food and convenience stores within minutes of our homes and work place. Heck we can have most anything delivered and don’t even have to leave our home.
So you ask, how do I change? Great question! There are a variety of solutions available to you, but figuring out which is best for you is the key. We can help.
