How do you get the best results from CrossFit?
How do we get the best results from anything we do? There are simple and basic principals that translate to all things great we want to achieve. They are simple, but not easy.
Consistent (acting or done in the same way over time)
Show up 3-5x’s per week and focus on what you are doing, pay attention to the coach, ask questions, listen and practice in that hour. Show up and do it again the next day.
Focus on improving your movement before going faster or lifting more weight. When you move better, you are less likely to injure yourself. You can improve the mechanics of a movement like a Wall Ball or Clean & Jerk when your body doesn’t have to fight itself. You can eventually go faster in a workout, and lift more weight.
i.e. if you see a workout and you hate the movements or have trouble doing the movements you skip that day. Do NOT do this. If you work on only the movements you like, you will leave serious gaps in your personal fitness and struggle to improve in the areas you are good at because of that imbalance. “Eat That Frog” as Brian Tracy once said.
As the old saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day…..” This is the one that many of us struggle with. We want it now, yesterday! Sometimes the consistent effort and all the hard work doesn’t seem like it is working fast enough. Don’t rush it, the time is going to pass regardless of your actions. Stick with it even in your down days, weeks…. I Promise you will come out on top.
